Waffle Cones vs Bubble Waffles: What's the Difference?
At Muffle, we serve both bubble waffles and waffle cones — but our waffle cones are made from bubble waffle batter, which makes them unique. Here's the difference between traditional waffle cones and bubble waffles, and why ours are special.
What Is a Bubble Waffle?
A bubble waffle is made on a special iron that creates a honeycomb pattern of round, puffy bubbles. The batter is typically a mix of flour, eggs, sugar, and evaporated milk, perfected through years of testing.
Key characteristics:
- Honeycomb shape with individual bubbles
- Crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside
- Usually served as a cone shape, filled with toppings
- Made fresh to order
What Is a Traditional Waffle Cone?
A traditional waffle cone is made from a thin, flat waffle that is rolled into a cone shape while still hot. The batter is different from bubble waffle batter — it's thinner and crispier.
Key characteristics:
- Flat, smooth surface (no bubbles)
- Crispy and crunchy throughout
- Primarily a vessel for ice cream
- Can be pre-made
What Makes Muffle's Waffle Cones Special?
At Muffle, our waffle cones are made from bubble waffle batter, on our bubble waffle iron. This means:
- They have the iconic honeycomb shape
- They're crispy on the outside but chewy on the inside (unlike traditional cones, which are all crunch)
- They're made fresh to order
- They hold soft-serve ice cream beautifully
Our cones come in four flavours:
- Vanilla — classic and creamy
- Chocolate — rich and indulgent
- Mixed — swirl of vanilla and chocolate
- Matcha — earthy and refreshing
Which Should You Choose?

- You want a quick, handheld treat
- You love soft-serve ice cream
The Best of Both Worlds
