A Day in Fremantle: Food, Markets, and Dessert
Fremantle is the kind of place where one day just isn't enough — but if you only have 24 hours, here's how to make the most of it with a food-focused itinerary.
Morning: Coffee and Culture (9am–11am)
Start your day at one of Fremantle's many excellent cafes along the Cappuccino Strip (South Terrace). Grab a flat white and a pastry, then take a walk through the historic streets. The Victorian-era architecture is stunning in the morning light.
Late Morning: Fremantle Markets (11am–1pm)
Head to Fremantle Markets when it opens. Wander through the Heritage Hall, browse the artisan stalls, and pick up some fresh produce. This is also the perfect time for a mid-morning snack — the markets are full of street food options from around the world.
Lunch: Street Food Feast (1pm–2pm)
With so many options at the Markets, lunch is an adventure. Try Turkish gozleme, fresh seafood, or a hearty pie. The beauty of Fremantle Markets is the diversity of food all in one place.
Afternoon: Sweet Treat at Muffle (2pm–3pm)
After lunch, it's time for dessert! Head to Muffle inside the Markets for a freshly baked bubble waffle. Our recommendations:
- First timer? Try the Classic with your favourite ice cream
- Chocoholic? Go for the Nutella Oreo
- Feeling fancy? The Biscoff waffle is divine
Pair it with a thick shake for the full experience.
Late Afternoon: Beach and Sunset (3pm–6pm)
Walk down to Bathers Beach or South Beach for a swim and a relax. Fremantle's beaches are beautiful and the Indian Ocean is stunning in the afternoon light. Stay for the sunset — it's magical.
Evening: Dinner and Drinks (6pm onwards)
Fremantle comes alive at night with great restaurants, bars, and live music. The Fishing Boat Harbour area is great for seafood, and the cappuccino strip has plenty of dinner options.
The Perfect Day
Fremantle is walkable, friendly, and full of surprises. And no matter how you spend your day, make sure to save room for a Muffle bubble waffle!
